The Magic of Life...in Our Living

Dr. Noah K. Goldstein, DACM L.Ac.

After binge watching the first season of The Umbrella Academy, I realized I was thirsting for more magic in my life. I’ve been attempting to escape a dullness through shiny distractions.

It’s hard to admit that this fall, the sensational golden leaves have not been able to ring the tone of enthusiasm in my heart. Exchanges with friends seem to hardly scratch the itching need for connection. It’s as though there’s a film, numbing me to the exquisite nature of reality. It couldn't have anything do with the confluence of wildfires, COVID spikes, and a pending election, could it?

Denial and Dignity: How to Live with Both

Dr. Noah K. Goldstein, DACM L.Ac.

Last week I came across these words from a teacher of mine:

“All the good intentions in the world won’t make us capable of honesty.

Denial is a response to pain; it’s not a conscious choice to go into denial - it’s an expression of what we don’t let ourselves know.

We can’t make ourselves be aware.

We can work to help ourselves come home to our own body, to be capable of working with what comes up in us, as well as what might be coming up in others when they tell us what their experience has been.

This is the beginning of true ecology”

- Thea Elijah

It is such a gift when someone puts such profound insight into words so clear and concise.

What struck me here the most….

When it's Time to Listen and Take Action

Dr. Noah K. Goldstein, DACM L.Ac.

Recently, I’ve been asked to listen. First in Virginia, during our quarantine, I was listening to the Earth and to the still small voice within me. Now more than ever, I’m actively listening to the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color who have less privilege and power.

I’m trying to better understand those who have been experiencing systematic oppression for as long as they (and their grandparents, and their grandparent's parents) can remember. I am facing all the ways that I am complicit and am learning how to engage wholeheartedly in anti-racist activism.

Back to Work: In-Person Acupuncture Now a Possibility

Dr. Noah K. Goldstein, DACM L.Ac.

I'm excited to let you know that I'm back to offering acupuncture as of today, June 1st! You can schedule an appointment via email.

It's been quite the experience to take a forced pause from work, surprisingly, an incredible gift. That said, I am very excited to get back to supporting you. I'm looking forward to watching people leave the office in less pain, feeling calmer, rejuvenated, and back to themselves.

What we're all needing now...

Dr. Noah K. Goldstein, DACM L.Ac.

Dearest Heartseed Community Members,

We’d like to acknowledge and speak to these unusual times. It’s been difficult to carve out the time for many reasons, and not entirely easy to find the words. We’d like for you to be able to step away from your computer or phone after reading this feeling a bit more grounded. We’d like for it to be as though with this email, we could somehow wrap you up in a thick heavy blanket, hand you a warm cup of tea, and squeeze you tight….

Let's Get Real

Dr. Noah K. Goldstein, DACM L.Ac.

Things don’t always go as planned. The fact that they sometimes do, feels like a miracle. Our kiddos had the week off after a week of trading places on the sick bed and the interruption to our flow is no joke.

Sometimes it feels great to get a break from the monotony of the weekly rhythm. Other times it feels like the weekly rhythm is a third heartbeat, one that ensures proper circulation for the energy of the family system. When it’s interrupted, it’s like the family system is having a mini-heart attack.

The Ripening Grief of Aging - a poem

Dr. Noah K. Goldstein, DACM L.Ac.

I’ve been saturated with grief.
It’s been like a fog surrounding me,
not without splotches of sunlight and moments of clarity,
but always lingering
in the background.
It’s not bad
or even uncomfortable,
though I do find myself seeking to avoid it, or solve it.
But grief is more of a process than a thing.
And it ripens like a fruit, over days, not hours.
